Election results
Every Barrie election we have been able to source, from the City Clerk's certificates for municipal elections and from Elections Canada and Elections Ontario's own official results for federal and provincial ones. Every election on this page names its own level — municipal, provincial, or federal — because the three are never on the same ballot and should never be read as one record.

Federal and provincial elections
Every federal election covering a Barrie riding since 2004 and every provincial election since 2003, plus one earlier federal exception (2000, kept because it settles an identity question elsewhere on this site). Full candidate-by-candidate results, not just the winner, live on the riding history page; each row below links straight to its own result.

Thirty-seventh General Election 2000: Official Voting Results — Barrie-Simcoe-Bradford, Elections Canada, dated November 27, 2000. Original document. Full candidate field for the November 27, 2000 general election in Barrie-Simcoe-Bradford: Aileen Carroll (Lib) 26,309, Rob Hamilton (Alliance) 17,600, Jane MacLaren (PC) 7,588, Keith Lindsay (NDP) 2,385, Ian Woods (Action) 387, Brian K. White (no affiliation) 234. This election predates the site's systematic 2003-onward federal/provincial coverage; it is included as a documented exception because Rob Hamilton's 2000 candidacy is directly relevant to his confirmed identity as Mayor Robert J. Hamilton (2003-2006). All retrieved August 17, 2026.

Recovered from the Internet Archive after the City's pages came down: 2003, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020. Each election's own page carries the full document reference and its transcription date.
Reading across the rows takes care. Ward boundaries were redrawn for 2026 and have moved before, so a ward number does not describe the same territory in every year. Trustee areas moved too. And the turnout column mixes sources: only the 2022 certificate states turnout; the other figures come from the City's archived results pages. What we can and cannot say about turnout.

Earlier than 2003: nothing has been found for 2000 or earlier. Those certificates are not published online and are not in the Internet Archive's captures of the City's site. Even the 2003 certificate only survives because a 2010 Archive capture caught a since-deleted City PDF — the kind of luck that does not repeat on demand. If you have an older certificate, we would like to hear from you on the corrections page.
