Barrie election results
Every Barrie election we have been able to source, from the City Clerk's certificates for municipal elections and from Elections Canada and Elections Ontario's own official results for federal and provincial ones. Every election on this page names its own level — municipal, provincial, or federal — because the three are never on the same ballot and should never be read as one record.

Winner's share is the headline winner's votes as a share of all votes cast for candidates in that race (the mayoral race in a general election, the ward race in a by-election), the same figure as the Share column on each year's results page. ‡ 2010: the Clerk's figures as the Barrie Advance reported them, not the certificate, which gives no electorate: 84,145 eligible voters, quoted from the Clerk on election day, and "around 35,400" ballots cast, reported that week.

Federal and provincial elections
Every federal election covering a Barrie riding since 2004 and every provincial election since 2003, plus one earlier federal exception (2000, kept because it settles an identity question elsewhere on this site). Full candidate-by-candidate results, not just the winner, live on the riding history page; each row below links straight to its own result.

How does turnout compare across municipal, provincial and federal elections?
Municipal (City of Barrie) Provincial (Barrie ridings) Federal (Barrie ridings)
One point per general election, on a scale of years. Municipal: the City's citywide turnout, published only from 2014 (earlier documents record votes but not the size of the electorate; see turnout). 2010, about 42%: the Clerk's figures as the Barrie Advance reported them, 84,145 eligible voters and "around 35,400" ballots cast.

Reading across the rows takes care. Ward boundaries were redrawn for 2026 and have moved before, so a ward number does not describe the same territory in every year. Trustee areas moved too. And the turnout column mixes sources: only the 2022 certificate states turnout; the other figures come from the City's archived results pages. What we can and cannot say about turnout.
